     Hello! We are Japanese university students in Tokyo. We're going to discuss about euthanasia here.
     First, let us tell you current situation briefly. Euthanasia originally means to end a life intentionally in order to relieve pain and suffering. However, it is a dilemma of choice. some people take it the same as suicide while some people think it is caring, not killing.
  We will introduce you the details on this blog.

We did a presentation in our class!

We had a presentation in our class about euthanasia. We were assigned to creat an NPO related to the topic and present it as if we were recruiting our class members to join us. We found an NPO called "Terminal ill right to die"(TIRD). Our concept is that terminal ill people should have the right to get euthanized but non-terminal ill people shouldn't have the right to get euthanized. Terminal ill people should have the right to end their physical pain. However more and more non-terminal ill people are trying to get euthanized because of stress and depression but life is such an important thing that we shouldn't give up on it so easily. There are always ways to solve any kind of problems but death. We should fight to protect more lives and care more about people. Our project is to collect signatures from people, show our will and make a stricter low for those who wants to get euthanized. Our goal is to decrease the number of non-terminal ill people who gets euthanized...

Answer to my 15 questions

1. Who introduced or suggested euthanasia? 5. When was the first time a patient was euthanised? I couldn't find out who introduced it and when was the first time exactly, but According to the historian N. D. A. Kemp, the origin of the contemporary debate on euthanasia started in 1870. Euthanasia  is known to have been debated and practiced long before that date.  2. Where are the areas in which euthanasia is illegal / legal?  Human euthanasia is legal in the Netherlands , Belgium, Colombia, and Luxembourg. Assisted suicide is legal in Switzerland, Germany, Japan, Canada, and in the US states of Washington, Oregon, Colorado, Vermont, Montana, Washington DC, and California. 3. What is the difference between suicide and euthanasia? This is a very difficult question to answer because the answer differs depending on one's perspective. personally, I don't think it's suicide if the pacient has terminal illness, as we said in the presentation we made in ou...

A Belgian Woman Decided To Be Euthanized

    Emily, a 24 year old woman who lives in Belgium, has been suffering from a serious mental disorder since she was only three years old. She didn't know why she existed, and thought "I don't wanna be here." When she was thirteen, she started thinking about suicide, and hurt herself over and over. She couldn't find a reason to live. So she decided to be euthanized in Belgium, in which death with dignity is legal for people who suffer from "an incurable or terminal illness".      After going through so many times of counseling, she was approved to be euthanized. It was because she injured herself so many times and she was truly despairing about living her life. Doctors told her that she could cancel it whenever if she wants, and the last day of her life came.      In the end, she chose not to die. She says "I couldn't. I have to fight with myself again."      Even though she decided not to die, her case shows that living is hars...
